CERTIFICATION TRAINING ON CONFLICT TRANSFORMATION AND PEACEBUILDING
OVERVIEW
Research has shown that while the causes of war and violence and the conditions for peace and justice are at the heart of peace and conflict studies, they need to be both understood and addressed in innovative ways if we “conflict resolution experts” are to make a significant contribution to the survival of the species and develop a deepened awareness of how we can enhance the quality of life for everyone.
Managers and leaders often find themselves in key roles to influence how teams get along. Unfortunately, not all managers are conversant with the interpersonal skills required to anticipate, prevent, resolve and transform conflicts. Conflict transformation is an approach that seeks to transform the very systems, structures and relationships which give rise to violence and injustice. It is a long-term, gradual process which must involve wide-ranging and comprehensive actions and actors across different sectors of society as they work together to develop strategic goals for change.
Peacebuilding is the foundational base of conflict transformation. It occurs at all levels in the home, in the community, nationally and internationally Participants in this training will learn new ways to handle conflict and walk away with a tool-kit of conflict transformation and peacebuilding strategies to use in any dispute situation.
